Campervan rental in Nice
Nice (Côte d'Azur) is one of France's busiest motorhome rental markets: private campervans on the P2P platforms, professional fleets on the outskirts — and each site only shows its own catalogue. Van-Comparator queries them all in a single search and ranks the offers by real total price.
The campervan — VW California, Mercedes Marco Polo, Ford Transit Nugget — is the ultimate freedom format in Nice: it drives like a large car, parks in town, yet hides a bed, a kitchenette and often a pop-top roof. It is the most contested segment of the market, split between private owners and professional fleets — the one where comparing platforms pays most.
Expect €75–150 per day depending on season, model and included mileage. All these vans stay under 3.5 t: a standard car licence is enough across Europe (in the US and Canada, your regular licence works — an International Driving Permit is recommended for European visitors). Check each offer's deposit, excess and mileage cap — the three items that vary most between platforms.
By campervan out of Nice: routes and stopovers
Nice is the gateway to the Route des Grandes Alpes. In two hours, the M2205 climbs the Vésubie valley towards Le Boréon and the Mercantour national park; the Col de Turini and its larch forest, legendary from the Monte-Carlo Rally, is ninety minutes away. In summer, the Col de la Bonette tops out above 2,700 m, roughly two and a half hours from town. On the coast, the three Corniche roads run to Èze and Menton, while the N202 heads up the Var valley to Entrevaux and the red Daluis gorges.
On the Riviera itself, overnight van parking is banned in almost every coastal town, height barriers included: the winning strategy is to sleep inland — aires and campsites in the Vésubie, the Tinée or the Grasse countryside — and drop down to the coast by day. Inside the Mercantour, overnighting in a vehicle outside designated spots is prohibited. Note that the Bonette generally opens only from June to October; outside that window, aim for Turini, cleared of snow much earlier.
