VAN-COMPARATOR Guide
Campervan Rental in Krakow: Lesser Poland and the Tatra Gateway
Rent a campervan in Krakow: a 7-day itinerary through Wieliczka, the Dunajec gorge and Zakopane, Lesser Poland campsites, a tight budget and local rules.
Krakow is Poland’s most beautiful city, and its hinterland lives up to it: a listed salt mine, cliff-top castles, the spectacular Dunajec river gorge and, two hours down the road, the peaks of the Tatras. By campervan, Lesser Poland lends itself to a dense, inexpensive loop, driveable from April to October.
Renting a campervan in Krakow
Expect 70-105 € per day for a campervan in shoulder season, peaking around 130 € in August. The Polish rental market is growing fast, but supply is still thinner than in Germany: book two to three months ahead for summer. Van-Comparator compares Yescapa, Goboony, Roadsurfer and Indie Campers live and shows the real total price; McRent, Outdoorsy, RVshare and Cruise America are joining the comparator soon.

Budget: the Polish good news
Rental: 490-735 € for the week in June. Fuel: barely 80 € for 500 km. Campsites: 18-30 € per night for two. No vignette in Poland for vehicles under 3.5 t; the private A4 Krakow-Katowice charges a classic toll of a few euros. Weekly total for two: 900-1,250 € excluding meals — see how much a rental costs to benchmark against other destinations.
Rules and common sense
Wild camping is forbidden in national parks (Ojców, Pieniny, Tatras); outside them, a discreet night on a permitted car park is tolerated. In busy Zakopane, stick to established campsites.
