How much does renting an RV really cost in 2026? The honest numbers

Campervan, converted van, semi-integrated, alcove, A-class or mini-camper: the price ranges we actually see across rental platforms, and the fees people forget.

It's the first question everyone asks — and the honest answer is: it depends on the vehicle, the season and the platform. Here are the ranges we actually observe when aggregating offers from the major platforms.

Price ranges by vehicle type (per day)

In the United States, budget $150–350 per day for a Class C RV, with mileage charged on top (plan for mileage packages).

The fees people forget (and Van-Comparator displays)

The listed price is almost never the final price. Factor in: the platform's service fees (0 to 15% depending on the player), mileage caps (often 100–250 km per day included, then €0.20–0.40 per extra kilometer), the cleaning fee (€50–120), bedding and kitchen kits sometimes billed as extras, and the security deposit — blocked but not charged (€1,000–2,500).

Three levers to pay less

1. Compare platforms. The same vehicle type, in the same city, on the same dates, routinely varies by 10 to 25% from one platform to another — which is exactly what Van-Comparator surfaces in a single search.

2. Shift by one week. Late June and early September offer the same roads as mid-August, 30 to 40% cheaper — see our off-season rental guide.

3. Pick up in the right city. Collecting the vehicle in Lyon rather than Annecy, or in the suburbs rather than downtown, often saves 15% for the very same itinerary — Van-Comparator automatically shows you nearby pickup cities.
