Motorhome Hire in Düsseldorf: Prices, Seasons and Itineraries

At the heart of Germany’s most populous region, Düsseldorf is an ideal campervan base: Romantic Rhine, Eifel, Moselle and the Benelux within two hours. Prices and tips.

Düsseldorf is not the first city that springs to mind for a road trip — yet it is one of western Europe’s most practical bases: at the heart of North Rhine-Westphalia, Germany’s most populous region, with a well-connected international airport and one of the country’s highest densities of rental vehicles.

A dense offer, contained prices

The urban concentration of the neighbouring Ruhr works in the renter’s favour: plenty of privately owned vans on Yescapa and Goboony, professional stations close by, and competition that pulls prices down outside school holidays. Count on €75 to €150 a day for a campervan, €85 to €160 for a converted van, €95 to €180 for a family semi-integrated RV. North Rhine-Westphalia’s summer holidays (July-August) and the May bank-holiday weekends concentrate demand: book early, or aim for June and September — our off-season guide puts figures on the saving.

Itineraries in every direction

Before you book

Düsseldorf enforces a low-emission zone: the green Umweltplakette sticker is compulsory, and fitted on vehicles rented in Germany. Rhine and Moselle stopovers are numerous but busy in fine weather — how they work, and the right reflexes, in our stopover guide. Bring or hire bikes if you can: most riverside stopovers connect directly to the Rhine cycle path. Before confirming, compare platforms on Van-Comparator: in a region this well supplied, the total-price gap between two equivalent offers easily justifies the five-minute check.
