Motorhome rental in Dublin: the guide to Ireland
Renting a motorhome in Dublin: semi-integrated from €95–160 per day, left-hand driving, Wicklow an hour away and the road to the Wild Atlantic Way.
Ireland is a country built for motorhomes: short distances, scenery that changes by the hour, legendary hospitality. And Dublin concentrates most of the country's rental supply. Here is how to start well.
Pickup and left-hand driving
Depots and private owners sit on Dublin's outskirts, often near the airport or the M50. You drive on the left, wheel on the right: the switch takes a few kilometres, helped by famously patient Irish drivers. Watch the secondary roads though (the "R" roads): narrow and hedge-lined, they impose a gentle pace. A standard car licence covers anything under 3.5 t — details in our guide what licence for a motorhome.
Dublin prices
Expect €95–160 per day for a family semi-integrated in summer, €75–120 for a campervan. High season is short (July–August): in May, June or September prices drop 20–30% and the west-coast roads empty out. Yescapa and Goboony list private vehicles, Indie Campers and Roadsurfer run pro fleets — Van-Comparator queries all four and shows the real total price, fees included.
Three escapes from Dublin
- The Wicklow Mountains: an hour from the centre, the Glendalough lakes and moorland as far as the eye can see. Perfect for a shakedown weekend.
- The south-east: Kilkenny, the Wexford coast and Waterford, 3–4 quiet days.
- The crossing west: Galway or Cork in three hours, and you are on the Wild Atlantic Way — the whole point of a motorhome in Ireland.
Where to sleep: campsites and farms
Wild camping is not a right in Ireland (private land almost everywhere), but the campsite network is decent (€25–40 a night) and many pubs and farms welcome motorhomes overnight if you eat or shop — always ask. Pack for rain: it is what paints the forty shades of green. Compare Dublin offers on Van-Comparator before locking your dates.
