From Dublin, the Military Road (R115) climbs within an hour to the Sally Gap and the bogs of the Wicklow Mountains. The M6 crosses the island to Galway in around two and a half hours, gateway to the Wild Atlantic Way, a signposted coastal route of some 2,500 km. Drive on the left, on narrow rural roads often lined with stone walls.

Where to go by motorhome around Dublin

Wicklow Mountains National Park and the monastic site of Glendalough are an hour away. To the north, the Boyne Valley shelters Newgrange, a passage tomb older than the pyramids, forty-five minutes from the city. Kilkenny and its medieval castle are a ninety-minute drive, Belfast and the Giant’s Causeway two to three hours.
