The E18 follows the Oslofjord towards Tønsberg and the headland of Verdens Ende, roughly ninety minutes away. The E6 climbs north to Lillehammer and the Gudbrandsdalen valley, gateway to the great national parks, in two hours, while the RV7 rises onto the Hardangervidda plateau towards Bergen and the E134 opens up Telemark towards Rjukan.

Drøbak, a seaside village on the fjord, is under an hour away; the fortified old town of Fredrikstad an hour and a quarter. Within two and a half hours you reach Rjukan and the Gaustatoppen, one of southern Norway’s finest viewpoints, or the first passes of the Hardangervidda, Europe’s highest mountain plateau.
