VAN-COMPARATOR Guide
Yescapa Review 2026: What We Really Observe
Coverage, service fees, insurance and deposit: our neutral, non-affiliated review of Yescapa, based on the comparisons Van-Comparator runs every single day.
Van-Comparator queries four motorhome rental platforms every day — Yescapa, Goboony, Roadsurfer and Indie Campers — to show their offers side by side. We are affiliated with none of them: this review is written by an observer who compares their results daily, nothing more and nothing less. Here is what we genuinely see on Yescapa.
What Yescapa does well
Born in Bordeaux in 2012, Yescapa is Europe’s pioneer of peer-to-peer motorhome rental and one of the continent’s best-stocked platforms — particularly dense in France, Spain, Portugal and Italy, and present in around ten countries. The model is its strength: privately owned vehicles, often lovingly equipped (proper crockery, bikes, baby gear), rented at rates generally below professional fleets. Insurance and roadside assistance are included during the rental through its insurance partners, the handover inspection runs through the app, and built-in messaging lets you settle every detail with the owner before paying. Since 2023, Yescapa and Goboony have merged into a single group while keeping separate brands and catalogues.
Its limits
As on any peer-to-peer marketplace, quality depends first on the person handing you the keys: vehicle age, cleanliness and equipment vary widely between listings — read the reviews and ask your questions before booking. Service fees are added at payment time: always judge on the final price, not the headline rate. The deposit, set listing by listing, commonly reaches €1,000 to €2,500 — our deposit and insurance guide explains the mechanics. Finally, mileage is often capped (daily allowance, extra kilometres charged), and handover times depend on the owner’s availability: less flexible than an agency for a late arrival.
Who it suits best
Budget-conscious travellers, people who want a van with soul rather than a fleet vehicle, and those departing from home rather than an airport. For a one-way trip or guaranteed pickup hours, a professional fleet will fit better.
Our verdict
A benchmark of European peer-to-peer rental, deep and well-built, whose main variable is the heterogeneity inherent to privately owned vehicles. Before booking, line its offers up against Goboony, Roadsurfer and Indie Campers on Van-Comparator: it is the only way to check that the total price really is the right one.
