Motorhome Hire in Nancy: Lorraine, the Vosges and Lake Country

More often driven through than visited, Nancy deserves better — and above all makes an excellent road-trip base: the Vosges mountains are an hour away, the Moselle and its vineyards thirty minutes, Alsace just over the pass. Here is how to organise a motorhome or campervan rental there.
The offer in Nancy
As in most mid-sized French cities, the bulk of the offer comes from private owners via Yescapa and Goboony: campervans, converted vans and semi-integrated motorhomes spread across the area, often at gentler rates than in the big metropolises. Metz, 50 minutes away, almost doubles the available choice — a Van-Comparator search shows both cities at once, across all platforms.
Budget
Expect €75 to €150 per day for a campervan and €85 to €160 for a converted van — national ranges detailed in our price guide — with availability often better than elsewhere in July-August. Late August has a charm of its own: it is mirabelle plum season, and Lorraine grows most of the world’s crop — markets and orchards line the roads.
Three itineraries from Nancy

Place Stanislas, a tourist magnet
The heart of Nancy — the Stanislas, Carrière and Alliance squares, an 18th-century ensemble — has been a UNESCO World Heritage site since 1983, complemented by the Art Nouveau heritage of the École de Nancy. That “label effect” on visitor numbers is no anecdote: a study by Yang, Lin and Han published in Tourism Management measured, on panel data, that the presence of World Heritage sites is one of the significant determinants of a region’s international tourist arrivals (Google Scholar page). In practice for the campervan traveller: the centre is walkable in half a day, so park on the outskirts and save the vehicle for the rest of the trip.
