A-class motorhome routes out of Le Mans

To the north-west, some forty minutes bring you to the Alpes Mancelles, where the River Sarthe cuts between Fresnay-sur-Sarthe and Saint-Léonard-des-Bois. Southwards, the Loir valley unrolls its villages and vineyards from La Flèche to Le Lude and on towards Vendôme, while the ancient oaks of the Bercé forest are half an hour away. The Loir valley can be broken into stages without returning to Le Mans: La Flèche and Le Lude each have an equipped aire within two kilometres of the centre, 32 and 20 pitches respectively, with water and electricity, both paid.

Where to go by A-class motorhome around Le Mans

La Flèche zoo and the château of Le Lude are forty minutes out, Solesmes abbey, famous for Gregorian chant, three quarters of an hour. Allow an hour for Tours and the first of the Loire châteaux, the same for Angers, and under an hour for the hilltop villages of the Alpes Mancelles. Two of these day trips have an aire of their own: La Monnerie at La Flèche, 1.6 km from the zoo, and Le Lude 1.4 km from the château, which lets you spread a visit over two days without hunting for a campsite.

Frequently asked questions

How much does A-class motorhome rental cost in Le Mans?

Observed range: €130–280 per day depending on season, model and platform. Van-Comparator compares the real prices published at the time of your search.

What license do I need?

Standard licence up to 3.5 t (most rental A-classes); above that a C1 licence is required — check the registered weight on the listing.

Which platforms do you compare in Le Mans?

Yescapa, Goboony, Roadsurfer and Indie Campers are queried live for A-class motorhomes in Le Mans; Outdoorsy, RVshare, McRent and Cruise America will join as partnership agreements land.

Is it easy to drive and park in Le Mans?

A local truism: during the 24 Hours week the city saturates and campsites sell out — book or shift your dates. The rest of the year, a flowing ring road, a pedestrian old town to skirt, and quiet Sarthe bocage roads, sometimes narrow between hedges: careful passing, nothing more. On stickers, one confusion costs renters dearly: a rental motorhome or van, almost always a Euro 6 diesel, is rated Crit’Air 2 and never Crit’Air 1 — the official classification table simply has no Crit’Air 1 box for diesel. Since no French low-emission zone currently restricts Crit’Air 2, a rental vehicle can drive anywhere; the sticker itself is only sold at certificat-air.gouv.fr.
