Motorhome routes out of Le Mans

To the north-west, some forty minutes bring you to the Alpes Mancelles, where the River Sarthe cuts between Fresnay-sur-Sarthe and Saint-Léonard-des-Bois. Southwards, the Loir valley unrolls its villages and vineyards from La Flèche to Le Lude and on towards Vendôme, while the ancient oaks of the Bercé forest are half an hour away. The Loir valley can be broken into stages without returning to Le Mans: La Flèche and Le Lude each have an equipped aire within two kilometres of the centre, 32 and 20 pitches respectively, with water and electricity, both paid.

Where to go by motorhome around Le Mans

La Flèche zoo and the château of Le Lude are forty minutes out, Solesmes abbey, famous for Gregorian chant, three quarters of an hour. Allow an hour for Tours and the first of the Loire châteaux, the same for Angers, and under an hour for the hilltop villages of the Alpes Mancelles. Two of these day trips have an aire of their own: La Monnerie at La Flèche, 1.6 km from the zoo, and Le Lude 1.4 km from the château, which lets you spread a visit over two days without hunting for a campsite.
