I-85 and then US-23 climb toward the North Georgia mountains and North Carolina, where the southern end of the Blue Ridge Parkway begins near Cherokee, about a three-hour drive away. GA-400, meanwhile, leads to Dahlonega, an old gold rush town and the gateway to Amicalola Falls.
