The ancient cobbles of the Via Appia Antica can be explored on the edge of the city, while the Aurelia follows the Tyrrhenian coast towards Cerveteri and the Maremma. The Via Cassia crosses the Tuscia towards Viterbo and Lake Bolsena, the A24 climbs to the Gran Sasso and Abruzzo in about ninety minutes, and the Pontina heads down to the Circeo.
